The Big Wedding Movie Giveaway!

So everyone loves a good movie right? Well when a cute chick flick that has to do with weddings comes to town we just love to give away tickets!!!! And this one is super special because the wedding gown featured in the move JUST ARRIVED AT OUR SHOP!!!! And it is AFFORDABLE!!!! Woohoo all around! Also, have you seen the star studded cast list on The Big Wedding? Geez! Talk about star power, Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace {I just love him}, Susan Sarandon, and Robin Williams!

Here are the rules...

1) You MUST be a resident of Kentucky or Indiana.

2) You must leave a comment here in this blog post telling about a wedding you attended where a BIG {or small} fiasco happened {make us laugh or cringe}. Also include your first name and your last initial.

So we haven't been "chit chatting" too much...our last post was on October 18th! What?!?!? And if you know us ladies, we love to talk your ear off. Guess we have been so busy talking, the typing wasn't happening!

We are thrilled to announce we will be carrying lingerie at our boutique in a few short weeks! We have always wanted to carry it, but after going to Bridal Market and seeing the collection in person and knowing it is as beautiful as practical we were sold! So when the UPS man shows up at our shop we are usually quite excited because he is either bringing us fabulous new dresses {or our brides fabulous bridal gowns}! So the last few days have been exciting because the new line we picked up has started to arrive! Unpacking the Jim Hjelm "Blush" boxes have been so fun because these dresses are over the top beautiful, well made, and the price tag is AMAZING! Check out these two little numbers that have made their selves at home in our shop overthe last day or two!

So who was up really early this morning? Did you catch the {not one but TWO} segments featuring our bridesmaids dresses??? Well, we were beyond thrilled to have our little ol' shop featured during their wedding week. Mr. Andre Wilson with Style Icon LLC contacted us and said he wanted showcase our dresses for this news segment. What are the hottest colors? What are the hottest styles? What are the trends in dressing your maids? And we were more than happy to oblige!

So it's that time of year again here in the good ol' Bluegrass State. Time for exciting events, fabulously dressed people, Mint Juleps, hats, and the Crown Jewel of the week... The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports... The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby! If you live in this area than you know that the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby is more exciting than the week leading up to Christmas! The city looks beautiful, the fashion is everywhere, and celebration is in the air! So why not grab some inspiration from this marvelous week, all you brides-to-be?? This week wedding inspiration is around every corner!

superb succulents {trend alert}

About 2 decades years ago I {Lauren} lived in California. So when someone mentioned the word succulent my mind went straight to a big tall spiky cactus in a hot dusty desert. I didn't automatically think of beautiful bridal boutiques or fancy wedding centerpieces. Well all that is a-changing folks! Succulents have found a perfect home right along with the typical wedding flora! Brides march down the aisle holding bouquets of them, grooms pin them on their lapel, banquet tables are adorned with the little water retaining plants, and I have to say that I am really really digging it!!!

I spoke to my friend and fellow Louisville wedding professional Jaclyn, {of Jaclyn Journey - Event and Floral Design} about the current succulent rage and here are a few things she pointed out... "I love succulents because you can put them with any color, they have a great texture... They can be organic or modern, and you can replant them after the wedding... Their prices vary, you can find them pretty inexpensively but some are kinda pricey, just like regular flowers. However, a lot of times they take up more space than a regular flower so the cost can average out!"

I am hopping in the car as soon as I post this and I'm going to go buy myself a little succulent for my kitchen! I am pretty sure I can't kill it like I do all the other flowers I have had over the years!

winter wedding {inspiration}

So all winter long I have been wishing and hoping for a good snow. There is nothing that makes me smile more in the winter than an undisturbed coat of thick glittery snow as far as the eye can see. However, we have had very unseasonable weather this year and we were all donning our flip flops and shorts in December a few times! FINALLY, this week we had a good 2 inches of snow, but it only lasted a few hours before the sun came out and now we are back to the mid 60s!

So anyway, I just had to get my snow fix and I hunted down these fabulous winter weddings to give all our brides that are getting married in the chilly months of 2012/2013 a little inspiration!
