So it's that time of year again here in the good ol' Bluegrass State.  Time for exciting events, fabulously dressed people, Mint Juleps, hats, and the Crown Jewel of the week... The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports... The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby!  If you live in this area than you  know that the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby is more exciting than the week leading up to Christmas!  The city looks beautiful, the fashion is everywhere, and celebration is in the air!  So why not grab some inspiration from this marvelous week, all you brides-to-be??  This week wedding inspiration is around every corner!

superb succulents {trend alert}

About 2 decades years ago I {Lauren} lived in California.  So when someone mentioned the word succulent my mind went straight to a big tall spiky cactus in a hot dusty desert.  I didn't automatically think of beautiful bridal boutiques or fancy wedding centerpieces.  Well all that is a-changing folks! Succulents have found a perfect home right along with the typical wedding flora!  Brides march down the aisle holding bouquets of them, grooms pin them on their lapel, banquet tables are adorned with the little water retaining plants, and I have to say that I am really really digging it!!!

I spoke to my friend and fellow Louisville wedding professional Jaclyn, {of Jaclyn Journey - Event and Floral Design} about the current succulent rage and here are a few things she pointed out...  "I love succulents because you can put them with any color, they have a great texture... They can be organic or modern, and you can replant them after the wedding... Their prices vary, you can find them pretty inexpensively but some are kinda pricey, just like regular flowers. However, a lot of times they take up more space than a regular flower so the cost can average out!"  

I am hopping in the car as soon as I post this and I'm going to go buy myself a little succulent for my kitchen!  I am pretty sure I can't kill it like I do all the other flowers I have had over the years!

winter wedding {inspiration}

So all winter long I have been wishing and hoping for a good snow.  There is nothing that makes me smile more in the winter than an undisturbed coat of thick glittery snow as far as the eye can see. However, we have had very unseasonable weather this year and we were all donning our flip flops and shorts in December a few times!  FINALLY, this week we had a good 2 inches of snow, but it only lasted a few hours before the sun came out and now we are back to the mid 60s!  

So anyway, I just had to get my snow fix and I hunted down these fabulous winter weddings to give all our brides that are getting married in the chilly months of 2012/2013 a little inspiration!

a {free} dress story

So you all have heard that we were celebrating our 5th birthday last month.  Well, we told you we were going to do something BIG to celebrate; and boy did we!  One lucky CC Bride received the ULTIMATE gift and here is how it went down...

For 5 years now we were waiting for just the right time to give away a completely {free} wedding gown. We wanted the timing to be special.  We wanted the girl to be super surprised.  And we wanted to catch it all on camera!  Well when our 5th Birthday came around we decided that 5 was a nice round number and that it was quite a milestone, so we knew this would be the perfect  time.  We wrapped up a box with the fabulous gift inside.  We waited until the 5th bride of the year committed to her dress {get it 5th bride for 5 years in business}.  Then we handed her the box.  We will just let the pictures tell the rest of the story...
